Today, the official contract for the 25,000th student loan was formalized.
On June 17, 2021, by the decree of Mr. President Ilham Aliyev, the Education Student Loan Fund was established under the Ministry of Science and Education. The main goal of creating the fund was to increase access to education for members of the population from low-income families. On November 21, 2021, the Fund began its activities and is already in its fifth semester, third academic year, helping students to pay for tuition fees.
The number of students applying for loans continues with an increasing trend every semester. On October 27, 2023, the number of loan agreements formalized by the Fund reached 25 thousand.
The formalized 25 thousand TTK is also the approved figure for the initial result for the indicator provided in the socio-economic strategy in 2022-2026. The formalized 25,000th loan agreement happened to Jala Rahimli, a second-year student at Baku Slavic University. A symbolic gift and a letter of thanks were presented to our students by the management of the foundation. Let's take a look at some statistics on the formalized 25,000 loan agreements:
11.58% in the first semester of the 2021-2022 academic year; 15.64% in the second semester of the 2021-2022 academic year; 23.97% in the first semester of the 2022-2023 academic year; 26.87% in the second semester of the 2022-2023 academic year; It is 21.95% in the first semester of the 2023-2024 academic year. Acceptance of applications for the first semester of the 2023/2024 academic year will continue until the end of the semester. In total, 72.47% of the students whose credit has been approved are bachelor's, 23.64% are master's, 3.88% are students studying at secondary education levels 36.12% of the formalized loans are social, and 63.88% are standard education student loans. One of the main goals of the foundation was to improve girls' access to education and ensure that they do not remain without education. When we look at formalized loan applications, we see that 41.73% are male and 58.27% are female students. This, in turn, is a gratifying factor and can be considered a positive result of the work done for the goal of "providing access to education for girls". The top five according to the number of formalized credit applications for educational institutions are as follows: Azerbaijan State University of Economics - 7.03%; Ganja State University – 6.10%; Azerbaijan Technical University - 5.37%; Baku State University - 5.01%; Lankaran State University – 3.99%.
The fund reached the goal set for 2023 and formalized 25,000 loan agreements. From now on, we will work with stronger motivation and continue to support students in paying their tuition fees.
