Adjunct Instructor of Mathematics
The School of Design and Architecture (SDA) at ADA University invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Mathematics for the Fall 2025 semester. The course is part of the foundational curriculum for first-year undergraduate students in Architecture, Design, and Urban Planning. We are seeking dedicated and innovative instructors who are committed to advancing students’ mathematical competence within the context of design, architecture, and spatial reasoning.
About the course:
• Analytic geometry in plane and space
• Linear and vector algebra with applications
• Differential and integral calculus
• Introduction to mathematical models
The course emphasizes mathematical literacy for interpreting architectural and design-oriented problems and aims to build students’ ability to independently pursue further mathematical knowledge as needed in their studies. Instruction should be tailored to support students in mastering concepts such as:
• Real-variable functions, continuity, and limits
• Graphical representation and qualitative study of functions
• Systems of linear equations and vector operations in 3D
• Spatial reasoning (lines, planes, projections)
• Calculus applications in areas and centroids
• Forces, moments, and mathematical representation of physical systems
The course must offer the right tools and the logical rigor (for architects) for the study of structural disciplines, technical physics, and architectural geometry, considering new methodologies oriented towards parametric design
Responsibilities:
• Arrange the course in two lessons on two different days per week (avoiding to give lecture on Saturday)Prepare and deliver lectures and assignments consistent with ADA and SDA curriculum expectations
• Engage students through problem-solving and visual reasoning
• Provide timely feedback and maintain availability for student consultation
• Participate in academic meetings and coordination with SDA leadership
Required qualifications:
• Experience teaching mathematics with application to architecture, design, engineering, or spatial analysis
• Proficiency in English (instruction language at ADA University)
• At least 1 year of teaching experience at the university level
• Interest in interdisciplinary teaching and supporting student success
