Experience Exchange with the Republic of Uzbekistan
A visit of the delegation representing the Education Student Loan Fund was organized to the Republic of Uzbekistan from September 9 to 13 with the aim of exploring the possibilities of applying international experience and ensuring experience exchange in the relevant field.
During the visit, meetings were held with Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Otabek Fazilkarimov, First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Sardor Rajabov, as well as First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the People’s Bank of Uzbekistan Dilshod Kutliev.
On behalf of the Fund, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Fund Tahir Khalafov, Head of the Department for Employer Relations and Innovative Projects Ayaz Mustafayev, and employees Ilkane Hamidova and Emin Sheydayev participated in the visit.
During the meetings, detailed information was provided about the activities, strategy, and achievements of the Fund. The Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Fund, Tahir Khalafov, emphasized that the Fund was established in 2021 by the relevant Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and its main mission is to ensure access to education for individuals from low-income families, create equal opportunities in education, and expand the scope of educational coverage.
It was noted that student loans are transferred directly to the accounts of the educational institutions where students study. Thus, students whose tuition fee issues are resolved gain the opportunity to focus on their personal development and knowledge enhancement.
Deputy Chairman T. Khalafov also spoke about the results achieved over the past four years and future plans. He stressed that strengthening international cooperation will play an important role in the future development of the Fund and serve to increase access to education for more students.
During the visit, the mechanisms of implementing student loans in Uzbekistan were analyzed, experiences in financing models and application practices were exchanged, and discussions were held on the prospects of future cooperation between the relevant institutions of both countries.
